The Embassy of the Children’s Republic launch

We are pleased to announce the Children’s Republic of Shoreditch is officially independent!

Year 5 students from St Monica’s Primary School and Ministry of Stories co-founder Nick Hornby celebrated the launch of the Embassy yesterday. The launch is the culmination of a year of hard work and creativity.

The students present were responsible for the design of the physical space, and they were finally able to see their creations come to life.

They explored the Postal Service, to write and send letters or packages of any shape or size; the Advice Bureau, where one can sit and chat or receive confidential advice by writing or phone; the Department of Cartography, with its square globe; Border Control, where they each received their own Republic passport; the Museum of Childhood treasures, where pictures can be drawn from a machine and everyone can share their favourite childhood toy; and the Writers Desk, with its delivery airplane.

Thank you to all those who attended. The Embassy is open to visitors from 10am – 4pm, every Saturday until 11 August.
